Septre and coronatioun,
Quhen þe Denmarkis were wedand,
With fyre and slauchter distroyand,
Sparand nouþer wif na man,
That stude agane þar purposs þan.
Ane erllis dochter, his first wif,
Till him a sone baire in hir lif;
Edmond Irnesid callit wes he,
For his hie worschip and bountie.

Bot a fals tratour callit Gudwyne
Betraisit þis Etheldrede syne,
And murtherist him swikfully
Within þe cete of Hely.
