Argayl, þat next hym was born,Was kyng as he had be byforn.
Wykkedly þen gan hym falle,
ffor he discorded wyþ hem alle;
Þe godmen he abesed mykel,
& auaunsed þo þat were swykel;
Þe tresor þey hadden, he it hem reft;
He loued wel lyes; þe soþes he left;
Trowe men ne louede he nought;
Glad was he whan wo was wrought.
þe barons conseilled þeym bytwene;
