Dear Sis E.

We have waited a month hoping to hear from you or Mr.
Smith, and Mr. H. wishes me to send you a line to inquire the
cause of your silence. Soos after you left us a letter was received
for Mr. Smith. Mr. H. enclosed a note in it and forwarded it
to Charlottesville to the care of Francis. Did you receive it? A
few days after you left us, we moved into the room you occupied
during your short sojourn with us, which we find much more pleasant
for the summer. Mr. H. is about the same as when you left him.
On last Saturday week they operated on him again almost as severely
as the first one, since which time he is thought to be in a
better condition. This morning Pa said it was healing very fast,
and they now think it will improve more rapidly. Pa is still very
feeble. The rest of the family are well. Are you all settled in
your now home? How do you like it? We hope you are pleased. Let us
hear from you as often as possible. Do not forget to inform us of
your address when you write. Ma & the family send their love. Our
love to all.
