Charlottesville April 7 1854
Dear Bro:-
Your letter informing me of the unsettled matter between
Rogers & myself came to hand during my absence in Philad.a
or it would have been answered sooner.
I transfered the Shafer note to Nevel, precisely for the
am't I received it from you, so if there was a mistake you will
have to correct it with him. We made off a list of the Notes
transfered to him which he has doubtless now in his possession.
We have no news, except the street fight on last Monday
an account of which you will find in the Jeffersonian. We are
"as well as could be expected under all the circumstances".
In haste yours
J. R. Stevens
