Dear Sir
As Secretary to the Board of Visitors of the University of
Virginia it becomes my pleasant duty to communicate to you the
following resolutions of the Board passed on the 21st ultimo.
"Ordered unanimously that Francis H. Smith, Esq. of Loudon"
"County Virginia be and he us hereby appointed Professor"
"of Natural Philosophy in the University of Virginia."
