BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the
eleventh day of April in the thirty-first year of the
Independence of the United States of America.
A. D. 1807, David M'Keehan, of the said District,
hath deposited in this Office, the Title of a Book the
Right whereof he claims as Proprietor, in the words
following, to wit:

"A Journal of the Voyages and Travels of a Corps
of Discovery, under the command of Capt. Lewis and
Capt. Clarke of the Army of the United States, from
the mouth of the river Missouri through the interior
parts of North America to the Pacific Ocean, during
the years 1804, 1805 and 1806. Containing an authentic
relation of the most interesting transactions during
the expedition,—A description of the country,—And
an account of its inhabitants, soil, climate, curiosities,
and vegetable and animal productions.—By Patrick
Gass,
one of the persons employed in the expedition.
With Geographical and Explanatory Notes."

In Conformity to the Act of the Congress of the
United States, entitled, "An Act for the Encouragement
of Learning, by securing the Copies of
Maps, Charts, and Books, to the Authors and Proprietors
of such Copies during the Times therein
mentioned." And also to the Act, entitled "An Act
supplementary to Act, entitled, "An Act for the
Encouragement of Learning, by securing the Copies
of Maps, Charts, and Books, to the Authors and
Proprietors of such Copies during the Times therein
mentioned," and extending the Benefits thereof to
the Arts of designing, engraving, and etching historical
and other Prints."
