SPECIAL SALARY ACTIONS

The President proposed and the Board adopted the following resolution

RESOLVED by the Board of Visitors of The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that
the following persons shall receive the salaries indicated

Mr. Neill H. Alford, Jr., Professor of Law, at a salary of $15,000, effective 1 September 1963.

Mr. Alan P. Batson, Associate Professor of Physics, at a salary of $9,600, effective 1 July
1963

Mr. Lindsey Cowen, Professor of Law, at a salary of $15,000 plus $1,800 for administrative
duties, effective 1 July 1963

Mr. Frank E. Flora, Lecturer in Education, at a salary of $6,600, effective 1 September 1963

Mr. Desmond R. H. Gourley, Professor of Pharmacology, at a salary of $14,600, effective 1 July
1963

Dr. William S. Jordan, Jr., Professor of Preventive Medicine, at a salary of $21,000, of which
$2,000 is to be paid from local funds, effective 1 July 1963

Mr. Daniel J. Meador, Professor of Law, at a salary of $11,800, effective 1 September 1963

Mr. Edward A. Mearns, Jr., Associate Professor of Law, at a salary of $9,600 plus $1,200 for
administrative duties, effective 1 July 1963.

Dr. William H. Muller, Jr., shall receive an additional endowed supplement, as Stephen Watts
Professor of Surgery, of $5,000, over and above the $30,000 allowable from state salary and earnings
from private practice, effective 1 July 1963.

Mr. Edwin W. Pullen, Associate Professor of Anatomy, at a salary of $750, in addition to his
regular salary, for administrative services, effective 1 July 1963

Mr. Lawrence R. Quarles, Professor of Electrical Engineering, at a salary of $21,000, effective
1 July 1963

Mr. F. D. G. Ribble, Professor of Law, at a salary of $16,600, effective 1 September 1963

Mr. Clyde R. Smith, Instructor in Business Administration, at a salary of $6,600, effective
1 September 1963

Mr. John L. Snook, Jr., Associate Professor of Business Administration, at a salary of $11,800,
effective 1 September 1963

Mr. Walter J. Wadlington, III, Associate Professor of Law, at a salary of $9,600, effective
1 September 1963

Mr. Edward E. Younger, Professor of History, at a salary of $13,400, effective 1 September 1963
