SPECIAL RECOGNITION OF BENEFACTORS OF THE UNIVERSITY

The Rector reported that he was re-activating the Special Committee on Recognition of Benefactors of the University of Virginia, which had been originally appointed on 8 February 1964. He noted that the University of Virginia is one of the few major institutions of higher learning in the country that does not award honorary degrees and expressed his belief that other means might be found to recognize and honor individuals who had been major benefactors of the University. He announced that he was appointing the following members to the committee, effective 11 October 1966: Mr. J. Harvie Wilkinson, Jr., Chairman, Mr. Hunter Faulconer, and Mrs. E. Alton Parrish, Sr.
