GIFT OF WALTER REED PAPERS

The following resolution was adopted:

• WHEREAS Mrs. Mary Kahler Hench, widow of the late Dr. Philip S. Hench, has given to the University of Virginia the great and unique collection of the papers of Dr. Walter Reed developed over many years by her husband; and
• WHEREAS this collection on the professional career of the noted graduate of the School of Medicine of the University constitutes a rich archive for research in the history of modern medicine, linking the names and achievements of two great American scientists;
• NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that we express to Mrs. Hench our thanks for her generosity in making this magnificent gift, and direct the Secretary to transmit a copy of this resolution to the donor as a mark of our deep appreciation.
