RENT INCREASES FOR ALDERMAN ROAD DORMITORIES

The President reported that a rise in labor costs resulting from a substantial wage increase for maids and janitors makes it necessary to increase the rental charges for the Alderman Road dormitories. The charges established for these dormitories at the time they were constructed were just sufficient to cover operating expenses and bond amortization. (The other dormitories need not be increased, at least for the present.) A $25.00 increase in rental charges per session will produce sufficient revenue to cover expenses.

Accordingly, the following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by the Board of Visitors of The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the rental charges for the Alderman Road dormitories be increased from $275 per session to $300 per session, effective at the beginning of the 1966 Summer Session.
