ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ROUHOLLAH K. RAMAZANI PROFESSORSHIP IN ARABIAN PENINSULA AND GULF STUDIES

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS, Rouhollah K. Ramazani, an alumnus of the School of Law, joined the faculty of the University in 1954, and now holds the Edward R. Stettinius, Jr. Professorship in Government and Foreign Affairs; and
  • WHEREAS, Mr. Ramazani is renowned at the University, and in the nation and abroad, as a most distinguished scholar and teacher; and
  • WHEREAS, generous friends of the University, including the Kuwait-American Foundation, an anonymous donor, Mr. Mohammed Abdulrahman al-Bahar, the Cooperation Council for the Arab States-of the Gulf, Newport News Shipbuilding, and The Honorable and Mrs. W. Nathaniel Howell, have made possible the creation of a professorship in Arabian Peninsula and Gulf Studies;
  • RESOLVED The Board of Visitors establishes the Rouhollah K. Ramazani Professorship in Arabian Peninsula and Gulf Studies, thanks the generous donors who made the Chair possible, and pays tribute to the devotion and service of Professor Ramazani to the University.
