THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA LAG PAY RALLY NOVEMBER 8, 19 ROTUNDA STEPS ATTACHMENT F

THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA
LAG PAY RALLY
NOVEMBER 8, 19
ROTUNDA STEPS
ATTACHMENT F

> WHY MUST "LAG PAY" IMPLEMENTED? MORE CONVENT FOR THE ADMINISTRATION

> WHAT IS THE JUSTIFICATION FOR "LAG PAY"? SAVE THE COMMONWEALTH MONEY BY NOT HAVING TO RE-ISSUE A FEW CHECKS

BOTTOM LINE:

> NO ONE HAS STATED HOW MUCH THOSE SAVINGS TO THE COMMONWEALTH WILL COMPARED TO WHAT ACE STATE EMPLOYEE MUST PAY IN LATE & RE-TIMANCE CHARGES FOR PRIOR DEBITS.

> STATE EMPLOYEES ARE ONCE AGAIN BEING USED AS POLITICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE FAWNS.

> IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT SOMEONE LOOKS OUT FOR STATE EMPLOYEES' INTERESTS.

We, therefore propose to the Rector, the President and the Executive Vice President of the University the following:

1) An "Advisory" to the Board of Visitors, the President and the Chief Financial Officer, i.e., Classified Staff Senate. Not unlike that of Virginia Tech which will meet with the Board with the same powers as bestowed on the Faculty Senate of UVa.

2) The Board of Visitors, the President and the Chief Financial Officer MUST inform the 'Advisory'/Classified Staff Senate of ALL legislative matters involving the work force on a weekly basis during the General Assembly session' and thereafter, on a monthly basis.

3) Included in the upcoming legislative agenda UVa will ask for a REPEAL of 'lag pay'.

4) If 'lag pay' goes forward then UVa MUST honor the previous established interest free loan program and financial arrangement with the UVa Credit Union at NO financial cost to UVa employees.

5) Inform us of the your decision to aforementioned at the conclusion of this board meeting.

FINALLY, 'LAG PAY' IS NOT ACCEPTABLE and MUST BY REPEALED.
