LEAVES OF ABSENCE

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
  • Mr. Fredson T. Bowers, Linden Kent Professor of English, for one semester, effective 1 February 1970, without pay, to carry out research on a grant from the Modern Language Association.
  • Mr. Paul M. Gaston, Associate Professor of History, for one year, effective 1 September 1970, without pay, to accept the position of Director of Research of the Southern Regional Council, Atlanta.
  • Mr. C. Alan Hutchinson, Associate Professor of History, for one semester, effective 1 February 1971, without pay, to carry out research on the life of Valentin Gomez Farfas.
  • Mr. DeForest Mellon, Associate Professor of Biology, for one semester, effective 1 September 1970, without pay, to collaborate on a research project in the Department of Biological Sciences, Stanford University.
  • Mr. Marvin S. Schindler, Assistant Professor of German, for the period 6 July 1970 through 25 July 1970, without pay, to carry out research on the German Poet, Heinrich Heine, for his new book.
