DRIVING PRIVILEGES FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS

The President recommended the adoption of the following resolution which would have the effect of making first-year students with 2.0 grade averages eligible for driving privileges in the second semester.

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that effective 7 February 1970 the existing motor vehicle regulations be changed to read as follows:
  • (1) Provided he complies with the General University Regulations governing the owning, operating, or having in charge a motor vehicle in the City of Charlottesville or the County of Albemarle at any time during the period that the University is in session, a student is eligible for motor vehicle privileges if he is:
  • a. a graduate student
  • b. An undergraduate student entering with at least 14 semester hours of transfer credit from another college or university.
  • c. An undergraduate student having at least one semester of residence and a grade point average of at least 2.0 for the previous semester, and is not on academic or social probation.
  • (2) Student parking on the Grounds be limited as necessary.
