OFFICIAL FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

The President made recommendations regarding University financial obligations of students. He proposed instituting (a) a system for establishing such obligations, (b) an amendment to the University Regulations modifying the penalties presently in force for failure to satisfy the obligations, and (c) procedures for enforcement of such penalties.

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the President be and he hereby is authorized to delegate by letter, to various departments within the University at Charlottesville, authority to establish a system of student charges to be imposed by the particular organization, and upon the Comptroller's approval of the schedule of charges prepared periodically by the organization such charges shall be in effect and shall be deemed "Official Financial Obligations;" and
  • RESOLVED FURTHER that effective 1 September 1970, the following changes in the University Regulations be and they are hereby made: Delete the section entitled "Withholding Academic Credit" and insert in lieu thereof the following:
  • "Official Financial Obligations. Transcripts will be withheld for current and former students who have failed to meet their official financial obligations. Current students may also be subjected to suspension.
  • RESOLVED FURTHER that the President is authorized to cause the institution of procedures for the enforcement of penalties set forth in University Regulations section entitled "Official Financial Obligations."
