LEAVES OF ABSENCE

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by the Board of Visitors of The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
  • Dr. Julian I. Kitay, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Assistant Professor of Physiology, for one year, effective 1 July 1966, with pay, to obtain research training and experience at the University of Cambridge, England.
  • Mr. Jan Lubicz-Nycz, Lecturer in Architecture, for the period 1 April 1966 through 30 June 1966, without pay, to continue his special lecture assignment for three months at the School of Architecture at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  • Mr. Deforest Mellon, Jr., Assistant Professor of Biology, for one year, effective 1 September 1966, without pay, to accept a Guggenheim Fellowship at Cambridge University.
  • Mr. Alan I. Ritter, Assistant Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, for the period 1 September 1966 through 31 January 1967, without pay, to revise and expand for publication his doctoral dissertation on Proudhon.
  • Dr. Stephen L. Wangensteen, Assistant Professor of Surgery, for the period 1 July 1966 through 31 December 1966, without pay, to complete military service.
  • Mr. Howard D. Winters, Assistant Professor of Anthropology, for one year, effective 1 September 1966, without pay, to teach at New York University.
  • Mr. Anthony D. Woozley, Professor of Philosophy, for one year, effective 1 September 1966, without pay, to resolve complications relating to his entry visa from Great Britain to the United States.
