Boþe kniȝtes were gode & stronge,
& fouȝten to gider swiþe longe,
Roulond was a hende kniȝt,
& feled þat otuwel smot ariȝt,
& þat myȝt was in his arm,
& þoute to sauen him fram harm,
& seide, “otuwel, let þi fiȝt,
& leue on ihu ful of miȝt,
& ich wele ben at acent,
Þat þou sschalt wedde belecent,
Þe kinges douȝter, mi nese þat is;
I rede, otuwel, þat þou do þis.”
