Otuwel þer of was war,
& in his herte it him bar,
Þat þei nere a-boute no good,
& seide to hem þere he stod;
“Bi þe louerd fire mahoun,
Kniȝtes i rede ȝe sitten a-doun.
For ȝef ani of ȝou so hardi be,
Þat any strok munteþ to me,
Mahoun mi god ich here for-sake
ȝef he sschal euere ordres take,
Of ani oþer bisschopes hond,
Bot of Corsouze mi gode brond.”
