LEAVES OF ABSENCE

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by the Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
  • Mr. Dennis W. Barnes, Associate Professor of Environmental Sciences, for the period January 19, 1981 through December 31, 1982, to accept a position as Chief Scientist, U. S. Committee on Science, Commerce and Transportation.

  • Mr. James W. Ceaser, Associate Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, for one semester, effective September 1, 1981, to teach at the University of Bourdeaux's Institute of Politics.
  • Mr. Carnes Lord, Assistant Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, for the period January 16, 1981 through January 15, 1983, to accept an appointment with the National Security Council.
  • Mr. George A. McAlpine, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Science, for one year, effective July 1, 1981, for personal reasons.
  • Mr. Carlos Ramos-Gil, Professor of Spanish, for the period January 1, 1981 through May 31, 1982, for medical reasons.
  • Mr. Roger A. Rydin, Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering, for the period September 1, 1981 through August 31, 1982, as visiting scientist at the European Atomic Energy Organization in Ispra, Italy.
  • Mr. R. Jack Weber, Associate Professor of Business Administration, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1981, to teach in Lausanne, Switzerland.
