[_]

Challoner MS.

Als oft as men says þis orisoun
Betwen agnus dei & þe leuacion
Twa thowsande wynter of pardon
Mon þai haue to þe crōn̄.
Ihū, my lord, welcom þu be!
In flesch & blode I þe see,
Bath god and man veraly
As I trow witterly.

182

Þis haly flessh and þis blode,
Of a mayden mylde of mode,
Þou resaued for oure gode,
And þat þu kid opon þe rode.
Quhan þat blode ran fra þi syde,
Out of a wounde wonder wyde
For to safe witt all man-kynde,
And þe to haue ay in mynde.
And so þu died as me say
And rayse ogayne þe thrid day,
An þis same flesch wyth woundes fyfe
Þow rayse ogayne fra deed to lyue;
And efterward til heuen þu stegh
To mak us sitt wyth þe on hegh;
And sone her-after þu sall come
To þe drede-full day of dome,
All man-kynde to deme sone
Efter þai hafe sayed or done.
Als sothely, lorde, als I trow þis,
Lat me ner lose þi blyss
In vertu of þis sacrament,
Lorde, lat me neuer more be schent.
In wyrschipe of þi haly name,
Scheld þu me fra synne & schame,
Fra all perels þu kepe me,
And gyf me grace to won with þe,
Thurgh vertu of þi body here
Þat þe priste handels in þe auter.
And ay þu kepe me with þi grace
And graunt me in heuen a place.

183

Ihū criste, þat it so be,
Lorde, þu graunt par charite!
And euer þu do mercy witt me
In worschipe of Trinite.
