27th April 1915,
C/o Gioacchino Veneziani, Murano, Venice, Italy.
Dear Sir,
I am much obliged to you for your letter of the 16th., and it crosses
a letter from me enclosing an amended agreement. In view of the fact that
you wish me now to look after the future business with Grant Richards, the
agreement will need some little modification, but that is only slight. I will
see Mr. Richards and get his decision about the novel. Can you send me
either the original or a copy of your agreement with Mr. Richards? I
assume from what you say that he published "Dubliners", and I will make
enquiries about the American edition.
[1] Before doing so, however, I
should like
to see the actual agreement, in order to know where we stand.
