RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION TO JAMES J. MINGLE

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS, James J. Mingle took a Juris Doctor from the Law School of the University of Virginia in 1973; and
  • WHEREAS, Mr. Mingle returned to the University in 1989 as General Counsel; and
  • WHEREAS, Mr. Mingle has a national reputation as a leader in his field of the law; and
  • WHEREAS, Mr. Mingle has served the University and the Board with devotion and great distinction, giving valued direction and counsel on an enormous variety of legal issues from the mundane to matters of national importance; and
  • WHEREAS, Mr. Mingle is leaving the University in July to accept a position at Cornell University;
  • RESOLVED, that the Board of Visitors expresses regret at Mr. Mingle's departure, thanks him for his distinguished service to it and to the University of Virginia, and wishes him every success in his new position.
