The President reported that private gifts to the University and its related foundations for the year to date (since July 1), ending April 30, amounted to $61.3 million, which is an increase of $10.7 million or 21% over the same period last year. The biggest increases have been in the Medical School, the School of Law, Arts and Sciences, the Medical Center and the School of Engineering. The President reported further that giving by alumni and non-alumni increased by 9.4 million, corporate giving by $2.3 million and foundations by $1.5 million.

Among the significant gifts received since the last meeting of the Board in April, the President noted, was a pledge payment of $1,750,000 to the Law School from Mr. Lyell B. The President also mentioned a gift of $3 million to the Law School from Mr. David Harrison of Prince George, a gift that is in addition to his previous gift of $5 million to the Law School.
