APPROVAL TO ESTABLISH AN ACUTE REHABILITATION FACILITY THROUGH
THE JOINT VENTURE BETWEEN HEALTHSOUTH CORPORATION AND THE
UNIVERSITY, ON BEHALF OF THE MEDICAL CENTER

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS HEALTHSOUTH and the University have prepared a Certificate of Public Need application for an acute rehabilitation facility; and
  • WHEREAS the application demonstrates the feasibility for the new facility; and
  • WHEREAS the new facility would provide needed patient services to the region in conjunction with a regional network which includes Augusta Hospital Corporation, Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center, HEALTHSOUTH, and the University of Virginia Medical Center;
  • RESOLVED that the Board of Visitors endorses the establishment and construction of an acute medical rehabilitation facility at the University's science/research park at Fontaine Avenue, subject to regulatory approval, and authorizes the transfer of $2.0 million in capital contribution to the University of Virginia/HEALTHSOUTH Limited Liability Corporation (joint venture) upon approval of the Certificate of Public Need.
