ROANOKE CENTER MATTERS

LOCATION OF ROANOKE CENTER

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by the Board of Visitors of The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that, in recognition of the desire of the City Council of the City of Roanoke, as evidenced by its gift of thirty-five acres of extremely valuable land, the building for the Roanoke Center of the School of General Studies of the University of Virginia be located on the tract given by the Council, with the understanding that, so long as the University fulfills its legal obligations to the City of Roanoke under the provisions of the deed, title to the building to be constructed for the Roanoke Center and to the tract of land of approximately thirty-five acres will be transferred from The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia to the State Board for Community Colleges at whatever time title to the real property of Roanoke Technical Institute of Virginia Polytechnic Institute is transferred to the State Board for Community Colleges.

On motion the meeting was then adjourned at 1:50 p.m.
