LEAVES OF ABSENCE

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by the Board of Visitors of The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
  • Mr. Truman A. Botts, Associate Professor of Mathematics, for the period 1 September 1966 through 30 June 1967, without pay, to continue for another year his duties as Executive Director of the Committee on Support of Research in the Mathematical Sciences, a committee of the National Academy of Sciences-National Research Council.
  • Mr. Vittorio E. Celli, Acting Associate Professor of Physics, for the period 1 February 1966 through 30 June 1966, without pay, to resolve complications relating to his Italian immigration visa.
  • Mr. Gary S. Dunbar, Associate Professor of Geography, for the period 1 September 1966 through 31 August 1967, without pay, to continue his teaching at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Northern Nigeria.
  • Mr. Jan Lubicz-Nycz, Lecturer in Architecture, for the period 1 April 1966 through 31 May 1966, without pay, to continue his special lecture assignment for two months at the School of Architecture at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  • Mr. Maurice J. Meisner, Assistant Professor of History, for one year, effective 1 September 1966, without pay, to engage in research at the Institute of Behavioral Sciences, Stanford, California, where he has been invited as a Fellow.
  • Mr. Donald H. Miller, Assistant Professor of City Planning, for one year, effective 1 September 1966, without pay, to accept a National Science Foundation grant which will permit him to pursue advanced study leading to a doctoral degree in city planning.
  • Mr. John L. Peterman, Assistant Professor of Economics, for the period 1 September 1966 through 30 June 1967, without pay, to do research on the rate structure in broadcasting under a fellowship granted by the University of Chicago.
  • Mr. William Rotch, Associate Professor of Business Administration, for one year, effective 1 September 1966, without pay, to teach at the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.
  • Mr. Lewis F. Sutton, Assistant Professor of French, for one year, effective 1 September 1966, without pay, to direct a foreign study program of the University of North Carolina at Lyon, France.
  • Mr. Anthony D. Woozley, Professor of Philosophy, for the period 1 September 1966 through 30 June 1967, without pay, to qualify for an immigration visa.
