The President announced the receipt of a gift of $70,230.75 from Mr. and Mrs. Fred R. Wilson of Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, in memory of Mr. Guy A. Wilson, of the Engineering Class of 1913, and his wife, to establish a chair, bearing the names of Mr. and Mrs. Guy A. Wilson, in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, for the purpose of attracting and retaining a scholar of unusual eminence.

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS the generosity of the donors in this instance is especially gratifying as a mark of the continuing relationship between Mr. and Mrs. Fred R. Wilson and the University of Virginia;
  • NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that we hereby record our deep gratitude for this gift and direct the Secretary to transmit a copy of this resolution to the donors as a mark of our warm appreciation.
