Confucius said,[2]
"The superior man has three worries: That he
does not know—can he not but worry? That he knows but does
not study[3]
[what he knows]—can he not but worry? That he
studies but does not practice what he has studied—can he not
but worry? The Ode says,[4]
When I have not yet seen the superior man,
My sorrowful heart is very sad.
