WTJU Honor Election Debate

to institute a direct line
between a student and the
Honor Committee. Mr. Miller
said that the hot line would
make Honor Committee
members directly aware of
problems so that they could
hopefully be solved.

Mr. Berkeley responded
saying that while he and Mr.
Morris had looked at the hot
line idea seriously, they felt it
was "gimmicky." He said that
in actuality a hot line exists
now because a "concerned
student can get in touch with a
committee member any time
of the day." The hot line, he
said would eliminate the
personal aspect of the Honor
System.

Mr. Friedman, however,
challenged Mr. Berkeley on the
point that a student can
contact an Honor Committee
member any time of the day.

He said that in his and Mr.
Miller's campaign they had met
students "who have had
problems which they have not
been able to solve" and that
the hot line is something which
they would welcome.
