TRANSFER OF FUNDS FROM THE ESTATE OF GEORGE TERRIEN TO
THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA LAW SCHOOL FOUNDATION

[ Mr. Mortimer Caplin abstained from voting].

  • The following resolution was adopted:
  • WHEREAS the Last Will and Testament of the late George Terrien provides that a portion of the distribution of the George Terrien Estate shall be used in memory of his deceased wife, Georgeann Skakel Dowdle Terrien, for scholarships for worthy students attending the University of Virginia Law School; and
  • WHEREAS The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia has received $298,000 from the George Terrien Estate and other monies will be transferred from the George Terrien Estate to the University of Virginia in the future; and
  • WHEREAS it can reasonably be determined that it was Mr. Terrien's intention that the scholarships provided for in his Last Will and Testament be administered by the University of Virginia Law School Foundation; and
  • WHEREAS the transfer of funds from the George Terrien Estate from The Rector and Visitors to the University of Virginia Law School Foundation would facilitate administration of the scholarships;
  • RESOLVED that funds received by The Rector and Visitors from the distribution of the George Terrien Estate be and they are hereby transferred to the University of Virginia Law School Foundation to be used in accordance with the provisions of Mr. Terrien's Last Will and Testament.
