ELECTION OF THE CHANCELLOR OF CLINCH VALLEY COLLEGE
The President asked Dr. Hulvey as Chair of the Special Committee on Clinch Valley College and as a member of the Search Committee on the Chancellor for Clinch Valley College, to comment on the search process and to introduce the members of the Clinch Valley College Chancellor Search Committee who were present.
Dr. Hulvey introduced Mr. Kenneth Asbury, Chair of the Clinch Valley College Chancellor Search Committee. Mr. Asbury reported that a portion of the membership of the Search Committee was present. He introduced Messrs. William Sturgill, Glenn Blackburn, Thomas Henritze, Raymond Haas, and Ms. Annette Gibbs and Ms. Rhonda Miller.
Mr. Asbury thanked President Casteen for the support and assistance he had given the Committee during the search process.
Dr. Hulvey introduced Mr. L. Jay Lemons and Mrs. Lemons and reported that Mr. Lemons was the unanimous choice of the Search Committee. Dr. Hulvey commented that Mr. Lemons has done an outstanding job as Interim Chancellor, a position he assumed last August.
- The following resolution was unanimously adopted:
- RESOLVED that Mr. L. Jay Lemons be and he is hereby elected Chancellor of Clinch Valley College, for five years, effective July 1, 1993. Until July 1, 1993, Mr. Lemons will be Interim Chancellor.
- Mr. Lemons expressed appreciation for this opportunity to serve the University of Virginia in a special way, and for the support that he and Mrs. Lemons have received during their time at Clinch Valley College.
