Actions Relating to Chairholders

• The following resolution was adopted:
  RESOLVED that the actions relating to chairholders be and they are hereby approved as shown below:

• (a) Election of Chairholder(s)

• Mr. Elias M. Awad as Virginia Bankers Association Professor of Bank Management, effective September 1, 1993.
• Mr. Edward L. Ayers as Hugh P. Kelly Professor of History, effective September 1, 1993.
• Mr. Robert M. Conroy as Dale S. Coenen Associate Professor in Free Enterprise, for one semester, effective January 16, 1994. Mr. Conroy will continue as Associate Professor of Business Administration (without term).
• Mr. Richard F. DeMong as Virginia Bankers Professor of Bank Management, effective September 1, 1993.
• Dr. Don E. Detmer as University Professor of Health Sciences, effective July 1, 1993. Dr. Detmer will continue as Professor of Surgery (without term).
• Dr. John B. Hanks as C. Bruce Morton Professor of Surgery, effective March 1, 1993.
• Mr. K. Edward Lay as Cary D. Langhorne Professor of Architecture, effective January 15, 1993.

• Mr. George T. Rodeheaver as Richard F. Edlich Professor of Biomedical Research, effective April 1, 1993. Mr. Rodeheaver will continue as Professor of Plastic Surgery (without term).
• Ms. Elizabeth S. Scott as Robert C. Taylor Research Professor, for three years, effective July 1, 1993. Ms. Scott will continue as University Professor (without term).
• Ms. Patricia H. Werhane as Ruffin Professor of Business Ethics, effective September 1, 1993.

• (b) Re-Elections of Chairholder(s)

• Mr. Mark R. Eaker as Robert F. Vandell Research Professor in the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, for the period July 1, 1993 through August 31, 1993. Mr. Eaker will continue as Professor of Business Administration (without term).

• (c) Leaves of Absence of Chairholder(s)

• Mr. Michael F. Holt, Langbourne M. Williams Professor of American History, with partial pay, for the period September 1, 1993 through May 31, 1994, for educational purposes.
• Mr. Gianfranco Poggi, William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Sociology, with partial pay, for the period September 1, 1993 through May 31, 1994, for educational purposes.
• Ms. Sandra Scarr, Commonwealth Professor of Psychology, without pay, for the period September 1, 1993 through May 31, 1994, to accept a position as a distinguished Visiting Professor in Sweden.
• Mr. Robert P. Scharlemann, Commonwealth Professor of Religious Studies, with partial pay, for the period January 16, 1993 through January 15, 1994, for educational purposes.

• Mr. Robert L. Grinaker from Carman G. Blough Visiting Professor of Commerce to Carman G. Blough Professor of Accounting, for one year, effective September 1, 1993.

• Dr. Dudley F. Rochester, E. Cato Drash Professor of Pulmonary Medicine, effective December 31, 1993. Dr. Rochester has been a member of the faculty since July 1, 1976.
• Dr. Morton C. Wilhelm, Joseph Helms Farrow Professor in Surgical Oncology, effective June 30, 1993. Dr. Wilhelm has been a member of the faculty since July 1, 1980.
