REPORT BY THE RECTOR ON THE ACTIONS OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ON JULY 14, 1988

  • The Rector reported that the Executive Committee met on July 14, 1988, and acting for the Board, it approved architectural firms as follows:
  • a. For the renovation of Halsey Hall, the firm of J. Michael Osteen (Preliminary architectural design).
  • b. For the design for utilities improvement and an electric power substation, the firm of Greenwood Partnership.
  • c. For the preliminary architectural design of Southwest Education and Economic Development Center, the firm of Sherertz, Franklin, Crawford and Shaffner.

  • d. For the architectural design for the renovation of hospital facilities, adult rehabilitation unit at Blue Ridge Hospital, the firm of Roberts and Associates.
  • e. For the architectural design for the facilities construction for the Leksell Gamma Unit, the firm of Metcalf and Associates.
  • f. For the preliminary architectural design for the renovation of Old Cabell Hall, the firm of Mariani and Associates.
  • g. For the architectural design for the Darden Research Center, the firm of Hardy, Holzman, Pfeiffer Associates.

The Committee also authorized appropriate University officials to execute an addendum to the Replacement Hospital Construction contract, authorized the Vice President for Business and Finance to lease or contract to sell one of three University of Virginia sites to the Division of Forestry for constructing and using facilities for its offices.

The Committee also authorized the appropriate officers of the University to execute documents to permit the Northway Corporation to have access to certain University property for the purpose of making improvement to that property.
