DEFERRAL OF PLANNING FOR STUDENT HOUSING AT BIRDWOOD
The President explained that the Buildings and Grounds Committee had voted to defer planning for residential housing at Birdwood on November 13, 1980.
The following resolution was adopted:

- WHEREAS, the development of student housing on the Birdwood site would require extensive development of utilities, access roads, faculty housing, and support facilities beyond that required for sites on the central Grounds; and
- WHEREAS, the cost estimates for the Birdwood development have increased substantially due to inflation;
- NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that planning for student housing at the Birdwood site be and it is hereby deferred at this time.
