THE ASSIGNMENT OF THE NAME HARVEY E. JORDAN TO THE NEW
MEDICAL EDUCATION BUILDING

The President advised the Board that the Committee on Names had recommended that the new Medical Education Building be named for former dean of the Medical School, Harvey E. Jordan. He served the Medical School as dean from 1938 to 1949 and as a member of the faculty for 42 years. Dean Jordan was a basic medical scientist who made significant contributions to the development of the Medical School.

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the new Medical Building be and it is hereby named the Harvey E. Jordan Medical Education Building.
