ASSIGNMENT OF THE NAME LANNIGAN FIELD TO THE NEW TRACK
FACILITY

The Rector reported that the Executive Committee had voted in favor of naming the new track facility the Lannigan Field. The facility is to be named after Henry H. Lannigan, who served the University from 1904 to 1929. He was the first track coach at the University and is credited with introducing basketball to the University of Virginia. His efforts on behalf of athletics at the University were varied and vigorous.

The Board of Visitors endorsed the action of the Executive Committee, officially assigning the named Lannigan Field to the track facility.
