RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION FOR MR. HARDY C. DILLARD

The following resolution was adopted:

• WHEREAS Hardy Cross Dillard, James Monroe Professor of Law and former Dean of the School of Law, has been elected to serve as a Judge on the International Court of Justice, at The Hague, in recognition of his character and his learning;
• WHEREAS in being so recognized by the Permanent Court of Arbitration, and in assuming the responsibilities of this new position, Mr. Dillard, a worthy son of this institution, who has served it for the past thirty-nine years with nothing but honor to himself, to his alma mater, and to his country, now brings new honor to the School of Law and to the University;
• NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that we congratulate Judge Dillard, both corporately and individually, and wish for him much happiness in the performance of the new obligations to his fellow men that he will so well fulfill.
