At church and hear Willie Meade preach ....We hear George Geiger is not very badly wounded and is a prisoner in Washington County. I feel so glad of it for Cousin Fanny's sake. Some nice reading, Charles Lamb's Letters, Essays, etc. What a sad picture his life presents to us but he seemed to enjoy the brighter spots when they did come. His devotion to his poor afflicted sister was truly beautiful and when thinking of it can excuse his vices however revolting they may seem in a man of his genius and taste.
