ACCEPTANCE OF REPORT ON QUALCHOICE

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS, because of the current and projected operating losses of QualChoice of Virginia Health Plan, Inc. (QualChoice), the HMO subsidiary of Blue Ridge Health Alliance, the Rector and Visitors, as a major shareholder in Blue Ridge Health Alliance, engaged Coopers & Lybrand to perform a complete assessment of QualChoice and to formulate a corrective action plan to bring it to profitability; and
  • WHEREAS, the Board of Visitors has heard the report given by Coopers & Lybrand indicating that the financial position of QualChoice may be reversed by prompt corrective action including implementation of a comprehensive medical management program;
  • RESOLVED that the Board of Visitors accepts the report by Coopers & Lybrand on QualChoice, and
  • RESOLVED FURTHER that the Board of Visitors directs the University of Virginia representatives on the Blue Ridge Health Alliance, Inc. Board to take immediate and appropriate action to implement the recommendations contained in the report.
