STATEMENT OF ATTORNEY GENERAL MARY SUE TERRY

The Honorable Mary Sue Terry said she was delighted to be with us. She noted that the University is served by two attorneys, Mr. James Mingle and Mr. Larry White, and they both can look to the Attorney General's office in Richmond for a range of services. She pointed out that having a teaching hospital as a part of our organization presents special legal challenges.

She said she has been meeting with education attorneys, and that a level of expertise in these matters is developing.

She urged the Board to advise her of ways that the Office of the Attorney General can help the University or the Board. She concluded by saying that she was aware of the impact that the financial shortfall is having on the institutions in the Commonwealth.

The Rector thanked Attorney General Terry for being with us.
