  • The following resolution was adopted:
    RESOLVED that the actions relating to chairholders be and they are hereby approved as shown below:
  • Mr. John T. Casteen, III, as George M. Kaufman Presidential Professor, effective August 1, 1990.
  • Mr. James A. Gentry as Visiting Virginia Bankers Association Professor of Bank Management, for one semester, effective January 16, 1991.
  • Dr. Irving L. Kron as Distinguished Professor of Surgery, effective January 1, 1990.
  • Mr. Oswald Steward as Harrison Foundation Professor of Neuroscience, effective March 1, 1990.
  • Dr. Morton C. Wilhelm as Joseph Helms Farrow Professor of Surgical Oncology, effective March 1, 1990.

  • Mr. Murray H. Finley as Eleanor F. and Philip G. Rust Visiting Professor of Business Administration, for one semester, effective September 1, 1989.

  • Mr. Lester A. Hoel, Janet Scott Hamilton and John Downman Hamilton Professor of Civil Engineering, for the period June 1, 1990 through December 31, 1990, with pay, to do research.

  • Mr. Robert J. Mattauch, from Standard Oil Company (OHIO) Professor of Science, to BP America Professor of Science and Technology, effective November 1, 1989.

  • Mr. Ernest L. Folk, III, William S. Potter Professor of Law, died November 16, 1989. Mr. Folk had been a member of the faculty since February 1, 1968.

  • Mr. Neill H. Alford, Jr., Percy Brown, Jr., Professor of Law, effective May 31, 1990. Mr. Alford has been a member of the faculty since October 23, 1947.
  • Mr. Ernst O. Attinger, Harry Douglas Forsyth Professor of Engineering and Applied Science, effective May 31, 1990. Mr. Attinger has been a member of the faculty since July 1, 1967.
  • Mr. Richard M. Brandt, Curry Memorial Professor of Education, effective May 31, 1990. Mr. Brandt has been a member of the faculty since September 1, 1965.
  • Mr. Hugh M. Davidson, Commonwealth Professor of French Literature, effective May 31, 1990. Mr. Davidson has been a member of the faculty since September 1, 1972.
  • Mr. James E. Deese, Hugh Scott Hamilton Professor of Psychology, effective May 31, 1990. Mr. Deese has been a member of the faculty since September 1, 1972.
  • Mr. William H. Harbaugh, Langbourne M. Williams Professor of American History, effective May 31, 1990. Mr. Harbaugh has been a member of the faculty since September 1, 1966.
