MOTIONS FOR EXECUTIVE SESSION

  • The following motions were unanimously adopted by the vote of all Visitors present.

  • 3778

  • (a) That the Board of Visitors go into Executive Session for the evaluation of University Departments and Schools if specific individual employees might be affected by the evaluation as provided for in Seciton 2.1-344 A. (1) of The Code of Virginia.
  • (b) That the Board of Visitors of the University of Virginia go into Executive Session for the discussion of matters relating to gifts, bequests and fundraising activities as provided for in Section 2.1-344 A. (7) of The Code of Virginia.
  • (c) That the Board of Visitors go into Executive Session for consultation with Legal Counsel pertaining to actual or probable litigation, or other specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by Counsel, as provided for in Section 2.1-344 A. (7) of The Code of Virginia.
  • (d) That the Buildings and Grounds Committee of the Board of Visitors go into Executive Session for Item Number 12 on that Committee's agenda for the discussion of matters relating to gifts, bequests, and fundraising activities as provided for in Section 2.1-344 A. (8) of The Code of Virginia.
  • (e) That the Educational Policy Committee of the Board of Visitors go into Executive Session for Item Number 13 on that Committee's agenda for the discussion or consideration of personnel matters involving University appointees including employment, assignment, appointment, promotion, performance, demotion, salaries, discipling or resignation of faculty, appointees or employees of the University of Virginia as provided for in Section 2.1-344 A. (1) of The Code of Virginia.
  • (f) That the Finance Committee of the Board of Visitors go into Executive Session for discussion of Item Number 17 on that Committee's agenda for the discussion of investing public funds where competition or bargaining is involved when if made public initially the University's financial interests would be adversely affected as provided for in Section 2.1-344 A. (6) of The Code of Virginia.
  • (g) That the Finance Committee of the Board of Visitors go into Executive Session for Item Number 18 on that Committee's agenda for the discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real property for public purpose, or of the disposition of publicly held property, or of plans for the future of a state institution of higher education which could affect the value of property owned or desirable for ownership by such institution as provided for in Section 2.1-344 A. (3) of The Code of Virginia.

Following a recess for an Executive Session of the Board of Visitors, the Open Session continued at 3:00 p.m., on January 26, 1990.
