APPROVAL OF UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER CONTRACT WITH FIRMS SELECTED TO SUPPLY ADDITIONAL DATA PROCESSING HARDWARE

  • The following resolution was adopted:
  • WHEREAS, the Board of Visitors at its March 1983 meeting approved a contract with Shared Medical Systems for a patient financial system to run on SMS facilities in Malvern Pa. and the Board of Visitors at its March 1985 meeting approved a second contract with Shared Medical Systems to convert the "shared" version of the financial software to a version to be run on University facilities; and
  • WHEREAS, the Board of Visitors at its August 1984 meeting approved a contract with Technicon Data Systems for a patient healthcare system; and
  • WHEREAS, the Board of Visitors at its January 1985 and March 1985 meetings approved a contract with IBM for hardware and software to support the SMS and TDS systems; and
  • WHEREAS, the University Medical Center has determined a need for additional data processing equipment to support continued growth of the TDS and SMS systems and new implementations of locally developed applications and has issued a Request for Proposal soliciting firms to supply that hardware;
  • NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the appropriate officers of the University are hereby authorized to negotiate a contract in an amount of approximately $3,500,000 for the acquisition of additional computing equipment for Medical Center Computing with the respondents to the Request for Proposal and to execute such contract with the selected firm after it is in final form and approved by the General Counsel's Office.
