REFERRAL OF STUDENT COUNCIL REPORT ON ADVISING TO THE PRESIDENT FOR REVIEW AND ACTION

• The following resolution was adopted:
• WHEREAS, the Student Council, through its Academics Committee, has conducted an extensive study of the process of academic advising at the University and has made a number of detailed recommendations to improve the system of academic advising; and
• WHEREAS, the Board of Visitors has received, with appreciation of the fine work of the Academics Committee, the report of the study and recommendations and believes that it merits careful consideration by the faculty and administration of the University for the purpose of (1) determining and implementing such changes in the academic advising system as may presently be both beneficial and feasible and (2) encouraging and facilitating the ongoing evaluation of academic advising to determine such further changes and improvements as may be warranted or permitted as circumstances change;
• NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Student Council's Academic Advising Report be committed to the President for such review and action as he may direct, consistent with the intent of the Board of Visitors as expressed herein, with the request that the President report, at the next meeting of the Board, such actions taken or recommendations he may have respecting changes in the academic advising system at the University.
