OFFER TO PURCHASE 12TH STREET PROPERTY
The following resolution was adopted:
- RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that acquisition of the real estate at 222 and 222A 12th Street, S.W., also known as part of Lot 9 of Gospel Hill, Charlottesville, Virginia, consisting of 5/8 of an acre and the buildings thereon, is necessary for the future expansion of the University's Medical Center, and will further the public benefits of the Center;
- BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the appropriate officers be and they are hereby authorized to negotiate and consummate the purchase of said property, at a price of $80,000, plus appropriate closing costs;
- NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that should efforts to purchase said property fail, then the appropriate officers be and they are hereby authorized to petition the Circuit Court of the City of Charlottesville for condemnation of said property by the power of eminent domain, vesting in the University all rights and entitlements in the property, after payment of just compensation and damages pursuant to the applicable state statutes.
