ENDOWMENT OF A ROOM ON THE LAWN

The President announced the receipt of a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Frederic W. Scott in the amount of $10,000 to endow a room on the Lawn to be occupied free of charge by a degree applicant who is "a man of integrity, unselfishness and sportsmanship, and who has demonstrated personal concern for his fellow students."

After expression of gratitude by several of the Visitors, the following resolution was enthusiastically adopted:

  • WHEREAS a gift in the amount of $10,000 has been made to the University of Virginia by Mr. and Mrs. Frederic W. Scott for the purpose of providing a room on the Lawn free of charge to a degree applicant in honor of the late Augustus Silliman Bladgen, III, a graduate of the Class of 1963 and an active member of the University Community;
  • NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that we hereby record our deep gratitude for this gift and direct the Secretary to transmit a copy of this resolution to Mr. and Mrs. Scott as a mark of our warm appreciation for this financial assistance which will be of great benefit to future students residing on the Lawn.
