The President reported that Mrs. Philip B. Philipp of Covesville, Virginia, has given 2,000 shares of common stock of Eastman Kodak Company to the University of Virginia to be used to purchase a linear acceleration radiation therapy unit for the School of Medicine as a memorial to her late husband.

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS the gift of 2,000 shares of common stock of Eastman Kodak Company by Mrs. Philip B. Philipp as a memorial to her late husband will bring additional strength to the University's program in medicine by providing the proceeds with which to purchase a linear acceleration radiation therapy unit for the School of Medicine;
  • NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that we accept with warm appreciation this generous gift from Mrs. Philip B. Philipp, and convey to her through this resolution our sincere thanks for this gift which will enable the School of Medicine to assume an even more advanced position in medical teaching and research.
