Summer Classes in Mathematics and Engineering—1892.

The classes in these subjects will be continued during the
coming summer vacation. Work will begin July 15th and end
August 30th. The following regular courses are offered. In
each three lectures a week are given with associated practical
exercises and problems and collateral reading.

1. A course in Plane Analytical Geometry, including the
theory of the Straight Line, the Circle, and the Conic Sections.
The text-book used is Puckle's Conic Sections.

2. A course in the Differential and Integral Calculus, including
the applications to the theory of Plane Curves and to the
Mensuration of Lengths, Areas and Volumes. The text-book
used is the lithographed syllabus of the Professor's Lectures.

3. A course in Engineering Geodesy, with its applications
to the construction of Roads and Railways. The text-book used
is Davies' Surveying; collateral reading is assigned in Gilmore's
Roads, Streets and Pavements.

4. A course in Mechanics and Strength of Materials,
given by lectures with associated exercises in drawing and design.
Collateral reading is assigned in Burr's Elasticity and Resistance
of Materials and DuBois's Strains in Framed Structures.

In addition to the above regular courses a limited number of
students will be received for special work, either of a more elementary
or of a more advanced character. As the number thus
taken is necessarily small, applications should be made promptly.

The fee for a single one of the above regular courses is $20;
for two courses, $35; for three courses, $45; for four courses, $50.
Board can be had at prices varying from $15 to $25 a month according
to the quality.
