INCREASE IN RENTAL CHARGES FOR DORMITORIES, MARRIED STUDENT HOUSING,
AND STAFF HOUSING
The President reported that the 1966 General Assembly made a separate appropriation for the maintenance and operation of auxiliary enterprises to be financed solely from rents, fees, and other charges for the use of facilities, such as dormitories and married student housing. Prior to the 1966-68 biennium, for employees working in these activities, the State provided the matching funds for social security and for payments into the State retirement system. In addition, the Governor approved a substantial salary increase for maids and janitors, effective 1 January 1967. These costs will now have to be borne by the enterprises involved.
To cover the above increases in costs, the following resolution was adopted:
- RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the rental charges for married student housing and staff housing as specified below be increased, effective 1 July 1967, and that the rental charges for dormitories as specified below be increased, effective 1 September 1967:
