SALE OF PAGE PROPERTY

President Shannon submitted to the Board a contract executed by Mr. Shea, by which the University
agreed to convey to Dr. Charles W. Hurt or his assigns a lot with improvements thereon known as No.
132 Chancellor Street in the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, fronting 76 feet, more or less, on
the east side of said street, being the same property conveyed to the University by deed of gift from
Lucy W. Page, widow, and Mildred N. Page, single, dated 12 October 1934, of record in the Clerk's Office
of the Corporation Court of the City of Charlottesville in Deed Book 84, page 232, in which deed a
joint life estate was reserved by the grantors, and also the same property in which the life estate of
Mildred N. Page was conveyed to the University by deed dated 7 June 1939, of record in said Clerk's
Office in Deed Book 99, page 47, the life estate of Lucy W. Page having previously fallen in by reason
of her death on 13 October 1938. The consideration for the conveyance is $18,000.00 cash.

The President proposed and the Board adopted the following resolution

RESOLVED by the Board of Visitors of The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that
Edgar F. Shannon, Jr., President, and Weldon Cooper, Secretary, be and they are hereby authorized,
empowered, and directed, subject to the approval of the Governor as required by Section 23-77.1 of the
Code of Virginia, (1950, as amended), to execute and deliver a deed of conveyance on behalf of The
Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia, conveying with special warranty of title to Dr.
Charles W. Hurt or his assigns, in consideration of $18,000 cash, the property known as No. 132
Chancellor Street in the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, as more fully set out in the contract
submitted to this meeting.

RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the President and other officers of this corporation be, and they are
hereby authorized, empowered, and directed to take such further steps and do such further things as
may be necessary to complete this transaction.
